Dublin Mountains Hiking Adventure
Escape the city and take a bus ride towards The Scalp, meet your guide and hike over the ‘Mountains to the Sea’. this scenic hiking tour takes 3.5 hours, covering parts of The Dublin Mountains Way and ends beside a Pub! Travel back to the city by Dart.
Take the Dublin Bus No. 44 towards Enniskerry, alighting at Stop No. 4088 at The Scalp where you will be met by your guide. From here we will have a short climb through the Barnaslingan Wood to viewing points across the Glacial valley known as the Scalp and then to Carrickgollen Wood. Here we can view the Lead Mine Chimney and have the opportunity to climb ‘Katy Gallagher’ 276m with a fabulous panoramic view of Dublin bay to Bray Head. On then to Rathmichael Woods, where we see evidence of a Rath dating back approximately 2,500 years ago (to the late Bronze Age) also the remains of a 13th-century church which has much earlier origins. Country lanes, roads and footpaths onto Shankill and finish beside Brady’s Pub. From here it’s a 13-minute walk to the Dart station back to Dublin City centre. As we walk through the Woodland your guide will cover such topics as the History of the area, Geology, Flora and Fauna and Folklore. There will be ample opportunity to take that special ‘Insta’ photo. A moderate level of fitness required as are hiking boots.
